Cosa aspettarsi da OP16?

What to expect from OP16?

One Piece card

If you’re a fan of the Marineford saga, get ready: OP-16 "The Time of Battle" is pretty much the set the community has been waiting for ever since One Piece TCG took off in Italy. The Summit War, Blackbeard, Ace, Sengoku — everything that made millions of manga readers cry is about to land on the gaming table. And the early signs are anything but disappointing.

A two-week head start in Japan: mark the dates

The figures officially confirmed by Bandai are clear: OP-16 launches in Japan on 30 May 2026, while the English (and worldwide) version arrives on 12 June 2026. A gap of roughly two weeks which, for anyone following the competitive scene, means just one thing: Japanese players will already have real tournament data on this set before we get our hands on the packs. Keep that in mind if you want to turn up prepared for Day 1.

The set features 126+1 cards in total, with a breakdown that includes 6 Leaders, 45 Common, 30 Uncommon, 26 Rare, 10 Super Rare, 2 Secret Rare, 6 Special Card and — a complete first — 3 Manga Rare instead of the usual single one per set. An increase that will please both collectors and anyone who loves manga-style artwork. The specific characters for the Manga Rare cards have not yet been officially announced by Bandai.

The 6 Leaders confirmed by Bandai at the Tokyo Championship in March 2026 are: Monkey D. Luffy (Blue/Green), Portgas D. Ace (Red), Buggy (Blue), Sengoku (Purple), Yamato (Black) and Marshall D. Teach / Blackbeard (Black/Yellow). Each will have a Marineford-themed Alternate Art version — and the artistic standard Bandai has accustomed us to in recent sets justifies collectors’ anticipation.

By the way: to build the decks mentioned, One Piece TCG - OP16 - Play Booster Box is a great starting point, and we have it in store.

Blackbeard SEC: the card already dividing Reddit

Marshall D. Teach OP16-119, a Yellow Secret Rare costing 8 with 10,000 Power, has a precise On Play effect: look at the top 3 cards of your deck, add one of them to your Life and put the rest back on the bottom in any order. Its Trigger negates the effect of an opponent’s Character. Anyone who plays Yellow already knows that managing your Life count is often the real difference between winning and losing — this card takes that to another level of control.

On the leak front, the aggregator OPTCG Leaks is gathering the full cardlist with English translations, while OnePiece.gg has already started publishing rolling spoilers. According to the word from these sources, the set focuses on interactions around the saga’s themes — mass battles, effects tied to the Marine and Pirate affiliations. The specific details of each card have not yet been officially confirmed by Bandai and may change at release.

Red Ace and Purple Sengoku look like credible candidates for the competitive scene, given their colours and the track record of these archetypes in the game. Without real tournament data on OP-16, though, any prediction about the meta remains speculative. Wait for the first Japanese results after 30 May: those will be the real indicator.
