One tile at a time, a different landscape grows around the fortified city. In Carcassonne, Klaus Jürgen Wrede's classic, you add roads, cities, monasteries and fields and place your followers to claim them. Rules you can explain in minutes and a new map every game. Spiel des Jahres 2001.
How to play
- On your turn you draw a tile and add it to the landscape, matching roads, cities and fields with those already on the table.
- Then you can place one of your followers on the tile you just laid: in a city as a knight, on a road as a robber, in a monastery as a monk or in a field as a farmer.
- When a city, a road or a monastery is completed it scores right away and the follower comes back to you.
- When the tiles run out, unfinished features and fields are scored too: the player with the most points wins.
- 2 to 5 players, ages 7 and up, games of about 35 minutes
- Winner of the Spiel des Jahres 2001
- 2021 edition with The River and The Abbot mini expansions included
