A night of magic, spell auctions and perfect collections in a moonlit forest. In Nocturne you are a mystical fox casting spells to collect enchanted items.

The heart of the game is a spell duel on a grid of tiles: each phase you choose whether to cast a higher spell than the last or pass, looking for the right moment to claim the tile you need. You collect sets of items such as Phoenix feathers, skulls, glowing mushrooms, mysterious eggs and rare herbs. At the same time, you can use them as ingredients for Potions to earn prestige and points. The game is played over two rounds, Twilight and Moonlight, and whoever has the most points at the end wins.

Why you will like it: a lovely mix of set collection and timing, with the tension of an auction. The choices can be nastily good: you block others, steal their time, force them to pass. The mood is a fairy tale at night, and the goals are always different. A solo mode is included too.

For 1 to 4 players, ages 10 and up, 30 to 45 minutes. In the box: 80 Item tiles, 44 wooden Spell tokens, 6 wooden Shadow Spell tokens, 4 wooden Pass tokens, 4 Character cards, 35 Potion cards plus 10 Starting Potion cards, 24 Goal cards, 1 Forest Spirits board, 1 score pad, 24 Solo Mode cards and 1 rulebook.
